1856 Conveyed from Pomeroy to the United State of America. 1910 U.S. Post Office and Customs House building erected. Housed the offices of the U.S. Federal Court, Internal Revenue Services and the U.S. States Attorney's Office. 1963 Served as the U.S. Army Reserve Center until 1972. 1972 Placed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings. 1974 Land and building donated to Chittenden County by the United States of America. 1975 After renovations were completed, housed the Chittenden County Clerk's Office, the Chittenden Superior Court, the U.S. Passport Office and the Chittenden Probate Court. 1990 Housed the newly created Family Court until 1991. This building is dedicated to the memory of Charles P. Smith, III and Bailey H. Goldberg, servicemen who gave their lives in battle.
